Junior Cricket at Sedgwick CC

Sedgwick Cricket Club has a thriving junior division – along with the incredibly popular All Stars and Dynamos programmes, we have U11, U13 and U6 teams competing in their respective Westmorland Cricket League divisions.

Many of the players in Sedgwick’s senior teams have progressed through the juniors, and there are U13 and U16 players who regularly feature in the 1st XI and 2nd XI teams. The 3rd XI also typically includes promising U13 and U16 players who are considered more than capable of playing against senior opponents.

Training sessions are on Friday evenings during the playing season, and junior players are coached to help develop and improve their bowling, batting and fielding skills.

U16 players are also welcome to participate in senior net sessions (each Thursday evening during playing season).

New players are always welcome – get in touch or come along to a Friday evening session.

Playing Equipment

Whilst the Club has some equipment (pads, gloves, helmets etc) which junior players taking part in hardball cricket may use, it is a requirement that each player must have their own abdomen/groin guard (‘box’).

Ideally, all players will have their own kit including:

  • Helmet with face-guard (mandatory for all junior hardball cricket)
  • Batting Pads
  • Batting Gloves
  • Abdo/Groin Guard
  • Bat (appropriate size for height)
  • Cricket whites (trousers, shirt, pullover)
  • Footwear – spikes or trainers grippy soles (suitable for playing on grass)

If you are uncertain about what equipment your child need, please speak to any of our coaches.
